  • Imprinting is a critical learning process in young birds.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate changes in protein synthesis in specific brain regions of chicks following imprinting.
  • To correlate these molecular changes with behavioral measures of learning.

  • Day-old chicks underwent a 'priming' light exposure followed by imprinting with a rotating red box.
  • Cerebral hemisphere samples, including the IMHV, were collected post-training.
