Abstract:
We report a case of endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided biopsy of an intrapulmonary arterial lung mass. The patient was referred to our center after unsuccessful attempts to get the diagnosis using bronchoscopic-guided (including EBUS) and computed tomography-guided approaches at the referring institution. We attempted to cannulate the upper lobe bronchus with the EBUS scope, but the sharp angle and narrow orifice would not permit the scope to view the mass or surrounding anatomy. We proceeded with biopsy of the mass by traversing the left main pulmonary arterial free wall and obtained diagnostic tissue without complications. The patient was discharged from the procedure unit and followed up with her referring physician.
