Summary

Low-dose aspirin use, especially on consecutive days, significantly increases the risk of recurrent gout attacks. Concomitant use of allopurinol may mitigate this effect in gout patients.

Synthesis and Characterization of an Aspirin-fumarate Prodrug that Inhibits NFκB Activity and Breast Cancer Stem Cells

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between low-dose aspirin use and the risk of recurrent gout attacks.

  • Data collected included medication use (aspirin dosage), symptoms, and exposure during gout attacks and control periods.

Conclusions:

  • Monitoring serum urate and adjusting urate-lowering therapy are crucial for gout patients using low-dose aspirin.
