Nominal association with CHRNA4 variants and nicotine dependence

Genetic variations in the CHRNA4 gene, which codes for the alpha-4 subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, are modestly associated with nicotine dependence (ND). This suggests a potential influence of the alpha-4 subunit on an individual's liability to ND.
