This case study highlights a rare instance of retroperitoneal fibroma developing during hormone replacement therapy in a patient previously treated for leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata. It underscores the complex hormonal influences on rare gynecological conditions.

Background:

Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata (LPD) is a rare condition with smooth muscle nodules in the peritoneum, linked to elevated gonadal steroids.
The patient had a history of LPD, treated with hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy six years prior.

Observation:

A 29-year-old patient with a history of LPD underwent hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy six years prior.
The patient was later referred for a newly developed retroperitoneal fibroma during hormone replacement therapy.

Findings:

The case presents a rare instance of retroperitoneal fibroma developing in a patient post-hysterectomy and castration.
Hormone replacement therapy was administered despite the absence of the uterus and ovaries.

Implications:

This case underscores the potential for rare gynecological conditions to manifest even after extensive surgical treatment and hormonal manipulation.
Further research is needed to understand the long-term implications of hormone replacement therapy in patients with a history of LPD and related conditions.
