The NLRP3 inflammasome, a key part of innate immunity, plays a role in multiple sclerosis (MS) and its animal model, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). While it can worsen EAE, this condition can still develop independently of the NLRP3 inflammasome.
