Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a type of cancer that occurs when there is an abnormal growth of skin cells, usually triggered by damage to the DNA within the skin cells. It is primarily caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or artificial sources like tanning beds. Background:

Primary intracranial melanoma is an exceptionally rare brain tumor.
Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are critical for rare central nervous system lesions.

Observation:

A 28-year-old female presented with headache and left-sided facial numbness.
Brain MRI revealed a mass in the left middle and posterior cranial fossae with melanoma-like signal characteristics.

Findings:

Histology and immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of primary intracranial melanoma.
Surgical excision of the brain lesion was performed successfully.

Implications:

Complete surgical resection can lead to long-term remission in primary intracranial melanoma.
This case underscores the importance of considering rare diagnoses in neuro-oncology and the efficacy of surgical management.
