  • Sleep apnea (SA) is prevalent but underdiagnosed due to costly and inaccessible polysomnography (PSG).
  • A need exists for user-friendly, reliable home-based diagnostic tools for SA.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To introduce a novel portable system for at-home diagnosis of sleep apnea.
  • To evaluate the system's reliability, ease-of-use, and performance compared to in-lab PSG.

  • A wearable device recorded breath sounds and airflow during sleep.
  • Diagnostic algorithms processed recorded data; 49 subjects used the device at home.
  • System performance was validated against 32 subjects undergoing in-lab PSG.
