Huntington disease or HD is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disorder inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern.PathophysiologyIt is caused by expansion of the CAG trinucleotide repeat in the HTT gene on chromosome 4 (4p16.3), producing an abnormal huntingtin protein with an expanded polyglutamine tract. Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of a home-based exercise intervention for people with early to mid-stage Huntington's disease.
  • To evaluate the impact of the intervention on gait, balance, function, physical activity, and quality of life.

  • A randomized controlled pilot trial involving 25 participants with early to mid-stage HD.
  • Participants were assigned to either a home exercise group (n=13) or a control group (n=12).
  • The exercise group used a DVD for home-based workouts three times weekly for eight weeks; the control group received usual care.
