Summary

Body image concerns during pregnancy, particularly feelings of attractiveness and fatness, can predict excessive gestational weight gain (GWG). Monitoring these attitudes may help manage GWG and combat maternal obesity.

  • Body image was assessed using the Body Attitudes Questionnaire across three trimesters.
  • GWG calculated from self-reported pre-pregnancy and late-pregnancy weight.
