Background:

Historically, interconnectedness of human, animal, and ecosystem health was recognized.
Twentieth-century professional specialization reduced cross-sectoral communication and collaboration.
The One Health vision gained traction in the early 2000s, but faced criticism for lacking actionable outcomes by 2009.

Purpose of the Study:

To address criticisms of the One Health approach lacking tangible outcomes.
To develop a structured plan for implementing the One Health vision.
To foster collaboration and create a roadmap for action.

Main Methods:

Convened an international meeting focused on operationalizing One Health from a policy perspective.
Organized seven multi-national work groups with defined timelines and outputs.
Facilitated structured planning to move from vision to actionable implementation.

Main Results:

Formation of seven multi-national work groups focused on specific One Health implementation tasks.
Development of a roadmap for translating the One Health concept into concrete actions.
Increasing participation and support for the One Health operationalization process.

Conclusions:
