Obesity does not increase morbidity and mortality after laparotomy for trauma

Obesity in trauma patients undergoing laparotomy is linked to longer hospital stays and higher rates of infection and wound complications. However, body mass index (BMI) was not an independent predictor of mortality or overall morbidity.
