Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Surgical Techniques

Background:

  • Circumcision is a common treatment for phimosis.
  • Increasing interest exists in foreskin-preserving procedures for both functional and aesthetic reasons.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate a prepuce-sparing plasty technique combined with simple running suture for acquired phimosis.
  • To assess the long-term functional and cosmetic results of this approach.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 52 adult patients with phimosis underwent prepuce-sparing plasty and simple running suture.
  • Outcomes were evaluated using comparative photography, assessment of recurrence, scarring, and patient satisfaction via VAS.

Main Results:

  • 48 patients experienced no complications, including bleeding, infection, or pathological scarring.

  • No cases of phimosis recurrence were observed.
  • The resulting scar was pliable and thin, with high patient satisfaction reported.
  • Conclusions:

    • The combination of prepuce-sparing plasty and simple running suture is an effective and straightforward method for correcting acquired phimosis in adults.
    • This technique yields excellent functional and cosmetic results.
