Summary

Primary breast angiosarcoma is a rare cancer. Complete surgical removal is the main treatment, offering the best prognosis for this aggressive malignancy.

Background:

Primary breast angiosarcoma is an exceptionally rare malignancy, representing only 0.04% of all breast cancers.
This rare breast cancer typically affects women in their third to fourth decades of life.

Purpose of the Study:

To present a case of primary breast angiosarcoma.
To discuss the diagnostic and treatment modalities for this rare breast malignancy.

Main Methods:

A case report of a 28-year-old woman with a progressive right breast lump.
Diagnosis confirmed via fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and core needle biopsy.
Treatment involved modified radical mastectomy.

Main Results:

Histological grading (I, II, III) impacts prognosis, with 5-year disease-free survival rates of 76% for grade I, 70% for grade II, and 15% for grade III.

Conclusions:

Primary breast angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis, even after complete resection.
Surgery is the cornerstone of treatment; chemotherapy and radiotherapy have limited proven efficacy.
Mastectomy offers the most benefit for patients diagnosed with breast angiosarcoma.
