Antibiotic prophylaxis in tonsillectomy and its relationship with postoperative morbidity

A single dose of intravenous cephalothin is as effective as 7 days of oral amoxicillin/clavulanate for reducing pain and complications after pediatric tonsillectomy. Routine oral antibiotics are unnecessary for tonsillectomy recovery.
