Background:

Ectopic testis is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by abnormal testicular location.
This condition deviates from the normal path of testicular descent.

Purpose of the Study:

To document diverse clinical presentations of ectopic testis.
To explore embryogenesis and management strategies for ectopic testis.
To provide a concise literature review on the topic.

Main Methods:

Retrospective chart review of pediatric patients with undescended testis.
Study period: January 2008 to August 2011.
Inclusion criteria: Children operated on for undescended testis.

Main Results:

Seven cases (3.6%) of ectopic testis identified among 190 undescended testis surgeries.
Presentations included five perineal, one penile, and one transverse testicular ectopia.
Laparoscopy used for transverse ectopia; open orchidopexy for others, with adequate vessel and vas deferens length noted.

Conclusions:

Boys with empty scrotum require examination for ectopic testis sites.
Gubernaculum growth is typically scrotal unless obstructed.
Early surgical correction of ectopic testis is vital for psychological well-being and complication prevention.
