  • Twenty-six percent of patients experienced complications (14 minor, 12 major).
  • Thrombocytopenia (p=0.002) and inpatient status (p=0.04) were significant predictors.
  • Hemoglobin drop at 6 hours showed moderate sensitivity/specificity for bleeding (ROC 0.723).

Conclusions:

  • Thrombocytopenia and inpatient status are significant risk factors for renal biopsy complications.
  • Serum creatinine, obesity, blood pressure, kidney size, needle size, and pass number did not predict major complications.
