Background:

Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection, commonly known as chickenpox, typically presents in childhood.
While generally mild in children, VZV can lead to severe complications, particularly in immunocompromised individuals or adults.

Observation:

A young woman presented with primary varicella-zoster infection.
She developed severe varicella pneumonitis and the neurological disorder Guillain-Barré syndrome.
