Background:
Cancer is a genetic disease of somatic cells arising from accumulation of genetic changes, and inhibition of oncogenes and restoration of tumor suppressor genes will be of great benefit for cancer patients.
Objective:
Microarray technology provides a unique opportunity to identify new molecular targets, and many researchers have applied this technology in studies of hepatocellular carcinoma and have identified candidate genes validated to affect cell growth and, finally, prioritized the therapeutic target genes.
Methods:
We discuss the different microarray technologies such as gene expression array, copy number analysis, proteomic profiling, and whole-genome epigenetic aberration analysis and their application for the screening of liver cancer targeted genes.
Results/Conclusion:
Here, we review recent innovations and approaches to therapeutic target discovery for liver cancer using microarray technology and present data about the outcome of gene target therapy using monoclonal antibodies in our laboratory.
