Daily change of cage depresses mass gain in mice
1Chair of Laboratory Animal Science, Agricultural University, Wageningen, The Netherlands.
Abstract:
The effect of daily cage changing versus no changing for a period of 2 weeks was studied in female and male NMRI:Cpb mice. The animals were subjected to either true or sham cage changing so as to balance for possible effects of handling. Daily cage changing significantly reduced mass gain in female and male mice. It is suggested that the frequency of cage changing should be kept constant both within and between experiments.
