  • One patient with bilateral lesions underwent fixation with bone grafting, with one side failing to unite.
  • Another patient with sub-talar osteoarthritis had fragment excision and arthrodesis.
  • A third patient with severe hind-foot osteoarthritis underwent tibio-talar-calcaneal fusion.
  • The final patient had fragment excision and sub-talar arthrodesis.
  • All patients reported symptom improvement or resolution.
  • Radiographic union was observed in four cases.

Conclusions:

  • A treatment approach involves fragment fusion for larger fragments or excision for smaller ones.
  • Associated limited fusion may be necessary for adjacent joint degeneration.
