Purpose of the Study:

  • To establish normal T2* magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) values for the fetal liver during the third trimester of pregnancy.
  • To provide a reference range for T2* values in healthy fetuses.

  • A multi-echo gradient echo T2* sequence was utilized on a 1.5 Tesla MRI system.
  • Regions of interest were placed in the fetal liver parenchyma for measurements.
  • Intra- and interobserver variability was assessed by two experienced readers.

  • The study included 46 pregnant women; 43 scans were analyzed.
  • The average T2* value in the fetal liver was 19.7 ± 7.4 ms.
