Older lesbian women. An invisible minority

Older lesbian women have been "invisible" because of their age, gender, and sexual orientation. Some nurses have inaccurate homophobic stereotypes about older lesbian women. Research indicates that older lesbian women report demographic variety, excellent mental health, and positive attitudes toward aging. Nurses who are educated and comfortable about sexual orientation issues can provide a safe environment for older lesbian patients.
