  • An 18-year-old male presented with parkinsonism and other neurological symptoms after confirmed dengue fever.
  • Imaging and blood tests ruled out other potential causes for the symptoms.

Findings:

  • This case represents the first documented instance of parkinsonism complicating dengue fever.
  • The patient exhibited symptoms consistent with parkinsonism following a dengue infection.

Implications:

  • Clinicians should consider parkinsonism in the differential diagnosis of neurological complications after dengue.
  • Prompt identification can prevent inappropriate treatments like L-dopa and dopamine agonists.
  • Steroid immunosuppression may be a beneficial therapeutic option in such cases.
