  • Group 2 (n=80): Sequential procedure (EST followed by LC).
  • Main Results:

    • No significant differences in baseline demographics or pre-operative parameters between groups.
    • Synchronous LC + EST showed significantly lower incidences of post-procedure pancreatitis (1.4% vs 6.3%) and hyperamylasemia (1.4% vs 10.0%).
    • The synchronous approach resulted in a significantly shorter hospital stay (3 days vs 4.5 days).

    Conclusions:

    • Synchronous laparoscopic cholecystectomy combined with endoscopic sphincterotomy is a safe and effective treatment for cholecystocholedocholithiasis.
    • This combined approach simplifies the surgical procedure, reduces complication rates, and shortens hospital stays.
    • The synchronous method presents advantages over the sequential approach in managing coexisting gallbladder and bile duct stones.
