Mineralocorticoid receptor expression in human penile corpus cavernosum

Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) is present in the human corpus cavernosum, but the protective enzyme 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (11β-HSD2) is absent. This suggests MR blockade could treat erectile dysfunction.
