    Summary

    Sclerotherapy for varicose veins can cause temporary brown pigmentations in some patients. Most pigmentations resolve within a year, with minimal long-term cosmetic impact.

    • Varicose veins are a common vascular condition.
    • Sclerotherapy is a widely used treatment for varicose veins.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the incidence and persistence of post-sclerotherapy pigmentations.

    Main Methods:

    • Prospective study of 100 patients undergoing sclerotherapy.
    • Assessment of pigmentations at the end of treatment and one year later.

    Main Results:

    • 15% of patients developed light brown pigmentations post-treatment.
    • After one year, 1 patient had linear pigmentations, and 4 had minor macular pigmentations.

    Conclusions:

    • Post-sclerotherapy pigmentations are common but often transient.
    • Long-term cosmetic significance of these pigmentations is generally minimal.
