Knee Joint

The knee joint is the most complicated joint in the body. It consists of three articulations– two tibiofemoral and one patellofemoral. As is characteristic of synovial joints, the knee joint has a thin articular capsule that partially surrounds this joint cavity. Background:

  • To evaluate the clinical success and reoperation rates of tibial liner exchange.
  • To assess outcomes based on specific indications for revision: polyethylene wear, acute infection, instability, and other diagnoses.

  • Retrospective review of 39 revision knee arthroplasties involving modular liner exchange.
  • Evaluation using the Knee Society scoring system.
  • Follow-up at a mean of 4.3 years.

Main Results:

  • Liner exchange for polyethylene wear showed 100% success (12/12 knees).
