Abstract:
Low birth weight babies delivered at Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, Nigeria, from January 1982 to December 1986 were reviewed. They constituted 11.5% of the total births within the period. The common aetiological factors were multiple pregnancy, nulliparity, preterm rupture of fetal membranes, hypertensive disorders, antepartum haemorrhage and anaemia in pregnancy.
