[Design and preliminary application of the minimal auditory capabilities in Chinese people]

We have designed the minimal auditory capabilities in Chinese (MACC) system according to the characteristics of Chinese phonetics. Sixty normally hearing persons and 70 patients with hearing loss had been examined with all MACC materials in the sound field. The discrimination scores of normally hearing people for all items were equal to or nearly equal to 100%. As hearing thresholds went up, the scores of the hearing impaired patients declined and individual differences increased. We consider that the MACC system is feasible in the light of the preliminary application and analysis. It offers an audiological method for Chinese patients. It is a systemic, reliable and efficient material for audiometry. Further detailed studies and modification are necessary.
