Summary

Bilateral lateral periodontal cysts are rare jaw cysts. This case highlights their diagnosis in a child via histopathology, with successful cyst removal without tooth extraction.

Background:

Bilateral lateral periodontal cysts are uncommon jaw lesions.
Diagnosis often relies on histopathology due to subtle clinical and radiographic signs.
They are typically asymptomatic and discovered incidentally on routine dental X-rays.

Observation:

A rare case of bilateral lateral periodontal cysts in a 14-year-old patient is presented.
The cysts were asymptomatic and noted during routine radiography.
Clinical and radiographic findings prompted further investigation.

Findings:

Surgical enucleation of both cysts was performed without extracting the adjacent teeth.
Histopathological analysis revealed a thin, non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, consistent with reduced enamel epithelium.
