Abstract:
The prevalence of anal incontinence is probably far greater than has hitherto been admitted. As a result of the appearance, and the knowledge of new methods of treatment an increasing number of patients seek help for this, often socially crippling, condition. The pathophysiology, the methods of investigation, and the possibilities of treatment, chiefly based on the author's own studies, are described in this review article.
