Summary

A rare tracheal schwannoma caused airway obstruction and bleeding in an elderly male. Endoscopic resection successfully treated this benign tumor, highlighting its importance in differential diagnosis.

Background:

Benign tracheal tumors are uncommon and can mimic common respiratory conditions.
Early diagnosis is crucial for effective management and preventing complications.

Observation:

A 78-year-old male presented with symptoms suggestive of upper airway obstruction and hemoptysis.
Initial misdiagnosis as asthma or chronic lung disease occurred.

Findings:

A rare primary schwannoma of the trachea was identified as the cause of the patient's symptoms.
The tumor was successfully treated with endoscopic resection.

Implications:

Tracheal schwannomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of unexplained airway symptoms.
