Summary

This study found increased low-frequency brain activity in the cingulate gyrus of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) patients. This delta activity may reflect the compulsive behaviors characteristic of OCD.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To replicate and confirm previous findings of altered brain activity in OCD using a distinct patient cohort.
  • To investigate resting-state EEG activity in a well-defined group of OCD patients and healthy controls.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized standardized low-resolution electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) to analyze resting-state EEG data from 50 OCD patients and 50 healthy controls.
  • Examined brain activity across 8 frequency bands with 1 Hz frequency resolution.
