Summary

Positive surgical margins in craniofacial osteosarcoma predict recurrence and impact survival. Salvage surgery and metastasectomy may improve outcomes for this rare head and neck cancer.

  • To identify prognostic factors for recurrence and survival.

  • Retrospective analysis of 15 patients with craniofacial osteosarcoma.
  • Evaluation of surgical margins, recurrence rates, and survival data.

Main Results:

  • Five out of 13 patients (36%) experienced recurrence after primary resection.
  • Positive surgical margins correlated with higher recurrence and reduced survival.
