- Dynamic bone histomorphometry indicated impaired mineralization correlating with nutritional status.
- Empty lacunae suggested osteocyte apoptosis, a novel finding in AN-related osteoporosis.

- Malnutrition and hypokalemia in AN negatively impact bone formation by impairing mineralization and may activate osteoclast-mediated resorption.
