Summary

The human leukocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27) is strongly associated with acute anterior uveitis, particularly in males. HLA-B27 positive patients often exhibit severe visual impairment and unique anterior chamber inflammatory signs.

  • HLA-B27 positive patients showed a male predilection, severe visual impairment, fine keratic precipitates (KP), strong Tyndall's phenomenon, marked anterior chamber reaction, and less posterior synechia.
  • Notably, 60.9% of HLA-B27 positive patients presented with plastic exudates in the anterior chamber, a rare finding in HLA-B27 negative patients.
