First look at 1990: expenses up, revenue fades

Community hospitals face familiar challenges in the new decade: Prices, expenses, staffing, and overall utilization of hospital services increased in the first quarter of 1990. This, according to first-quarter 1990 data from the National Hospital Panel Survey conducted by the AHA.
