Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) offers superior sensitivity and positive predictive value for locating hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands compared to 99mTC MIBI scintigraphy. Combining both imaging techniques further enhances localization accuracy, reducing operative time.
