Background:

Thyroid surgery is a common procedure.
Evaluating new surgical tools is crucial for improving patient outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the efficiency of the LigaSure(®) Small Jaw Instrument in thyroid surgery.
Compare the LigaSure(®) system against conventional thyroidectomy techniques.

Main Methods:

83 patients undergoing thyroid surgery were divided into two groups.
One group used the LigaSure(®) Small Jaw Instrument, the other used conventional methods.
Key metrics included operation duration, blood loss, and complications.

Main Results:

No significant differences in age, sex, indications, or blood loss between groups.
Complication rates were similar, except for temporary hypoparathyroidism.
Operation time was significantly shorter with the LigaSure(®) Small Jaw Instrument.

Conclusions:

The LigaSure(®) Small Jaw Instrument appears to reduce thyroid surgery duration.
It offers potential efficiency gains without compromising safety or increasing complications.
