  • Intervention included trigger point pressure release, self-MTrP release, and a home stretching program.
  • Main Results:

    • High baseline prevalence of active/latent MTrPs and possible myofascial pain syndrome (MPS).
    • Complete resolution of active MTrPs by discharge; latent MTrPs persisted.
    • Significant improvements observed in LEFS, NRS, ROM, and PPT for all participants.
    • Mean LEFS score increased by 11 points from baseline to discharge (61/80 to 72/80).

    Conclusions:

    • Multimodal MTrP therapy appears beneficial for patients with sub-acute or chronic calf pain due to triceps surae dysfunction.
    • The findings provide preliminary data supporting further rigorous research in this under-investigated area.
