Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the three levels of sexual problems (SP) in female patients with MS.
  • To examine the relationship between sexual problems and clinical/demographic variables.
  • To provide insights for managing sexual dysfunction in MS.

Main Methods:

  • 132 women with MS completed demographic/clinical history and the MSISQ-19 questionnaire.
  • Fatigue was assessed using the MSQOL-54.
  • General physical ability and sexual intercourse frequency were also evaluated.

Main Results:

  • 87.1% of patients reported primary sexual problems.
  • Delayed orgasm, spasticity, and partner satisfaction concerns were common primary, secondary, and tertiary symptoms, respectively.
  • MSISQ-19 scores correlated significantly with age, disease duration, fatigue, physical ability, and socioeconomic factors.

Conclusions:

  • Sexual problems are highly prevalent in women with MS.
  • Understanding the specific level of sexual dysfunction is crucial for appropriate management.
  • Further research and tailored interventions are needed to address sexual health in MS.
