Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental health condition marked by significant mood fluctuations, including episodes of mania and depression. Organic solvent-induced bipolar disorder: a case report.

Background:

Neurological and neuropsychiatric symptoms are documented with organic solvent exposure.
A link between organic solvent exposure and bipolar disorder is rarely reported.

Observation:

A 43-year-old male textile printing plant worker developed new-onset bipolar disorder.
The patient had elevated blood levels of common organic solvents.

Findings:

Symptoms of bipolar disorder improved after avoiding solvent exposure and undergoing detoxification.
Blood solvent levels decreased to undetectable levels, and manic symptoms resolved.
The patient remained symptom-free for 13 years.
