Summary
Neurogenous hyperplasia, a condition previously unreported in the esophagus, was identified in a patient. This finding suggests neurogenous hyperplasia may occur in the esophagus, similar to its presence in the appendix.

- Endoscopic biopsies revealed a proliferation of spindle cells in the lamina propria.
- Microscopic examination showed cells with oval-round nuclei in a focal fascicular arrangement.

- Immunohistochemistry confirmed the spindle cells stained positive for synaptophysin and S100-protein.
- Immunohistochemistry results for smooth muscle actin and CD117 were negative.
- The findings led to a diagnosis of neurogenous hyperplasia.

- This case report suggests neurogenous hyperplasia is a distinct entity that can occur in the esophagus.
