The current and future nursing shortage calls for cooperative efforts by nursing professional organizations, nursing schools, and health care providers. These efforts must be geared toward an all-out recruitment effort aimed at teenagers and workers in non-health care fields, a restructuring of the nursing workplace, and a reformulation of nursing curricula.
