ST-segment elevation associated with allergic reaction to echocardiographic contrast agent administration

Allergic reactions to echocardiographic contrast agents can cause heart attacks. This case study reveals transient coronary spasm, without clots, as a key mechanism, demonstrated for the first time using coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS).
