Background:

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive neuromuscular disorder.
It results from the degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brainstem.
This degeneration leads to progressive muscle atrophy and paralysis.

Observation:

A rare case of spinal muscular atrophy was identified.
This patient presented with an unusual characteristic: an open bite.
The co-occurrence of SMA and open bite is noteworthy.

Findings:
