Summary

Oxidized LDL cholesterol (ox-LDL) promotes calcific aortic stenosis by inducing osteogenic changes in aortic valve cells. Inhibiting the phosphate transporter PiT-1 blocks this ox-LDL-induced bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) expression.
