Abstract:
Extracapsular cataract extraction involves several stages, one of which is anterior capsulectomy. Up to present anterior capsulectomy was performed before removal of the lens sac contents in the majority of cases, this ruling out the use of the anterior capsule of the lens as a posterior corneal epithelium protector. The author has developed two types of scissors that permit resection of the anterior capsule of the lens before removal of the lens mass. The technique of the operation used in 43 surgeries is described, and the results of clinical follow-up presented.
