Summary

A phospholipase C-sensitive factor VII complex in pregnancy strongly correlates with serum triglycerides and platelet count. Further research is needed to understand the formation of this factor VII-phospholipid complex.

Area of Science:

  • Biochemistry
  • Hematology
  • Obstetrics

Background:

  • A phospholipase C-sensitive form of factor VII, likely a factor VII-phospholipid complex, has been identified in normal pregnancy.
  • The formation mechanism of this complex remains unclear.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the correlations between the levels of the factor VII-phospholipid complex and other physiological markers during pregnancy.

Main Methods:

  • Bivariate regression analysis was employed to assess relationships.
  • Stepwise multiple regression analysis was used for verification.

Main Results:

  • The factor VII complex level showed a highly significant positive correlation with serum triglycerides (r = 0.90, p < 0.0001).

Related Experiment Videos

  • A significant positive correlation was also observed with blood platelet count (r = 0.067, p = 0.0004).
  • Conclusions:

    • The factor VII-phospholipid complex in pregnancy is strongly associated with elevated serum triglycerides and increased platelet counts.
    • The precise pathway for the formation of this complex requires further elucidation.
